How do you get to Bansko?
Fly to Sofia (about 3 hours from Tel Aviv), then about 2.5 hours by car or transfer (around 150 km).
Do I need a visa?
Israeli citizens don't need a visa for Bulgaria (Schengen). From 2026 an ETIAS authorization is required — check before you go.
What's the currency?
The euro (EUR) — Bulgaria adopted the euro in January 2026. Cards are accepted at hotels and restaurants.
When is the ski season?
Usually December to April, one of the longest in the Balkans. In summer Bansko becomes a hiking base.
